AccessibilityOz is looking to hire an Accessibility Tester / Developer. This is a remote role, and the position is available to candidates located in either Australia or the United States.

Position Description: Accessibility Tester/Developer

Location:
This is a ‘work from home’ role but will require regular meetings via video conferencing and occasionally face-to-face meetings. The position can be based in Australia or the US. If based in the US, the role is expected to work some hours in Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
Renumeration:
- AUD: $50,000 per annum or USD: $50,000 per annum
- 4 weeks annual leave, 2 weeks sick leave per year (accrual)
- 1.0 EFT
Hours: Full-time
Scope:
This role is responsible for carrying out accessibility testing, preparing files and pages for automated runs, writing accessibility reports, and conducting result walkthroughs with clients. Additional tasks include development helpdesk support, developing accessible websites and involvement in projects as required.
Key Responsibilities
Testing
- Manual and automated testing for audits
- Running reports through OzART
- Using OzART to test website accessibility
- Providing examples of accessibility errors in testing for reports
- Completing accessibility reports and preparing them for clients
Helpdesk support
- Responding to helpdesk enquiries (via email, phone or web)
- Providing development support to the other AccessibilityOz testers
Development
- Providing accessibility assistance and code examples to clients
- Building accessible WordPress sites
- Maintaining WordPress sites
- Updating the web sites as required by the Operations Manager
- Provide advice on technical issues
Selection Criteria
- At least two years’ experience in accessibility testing.
- Knowledge of web development.
- Experience in building WordPress sites.
- Experience in WCAG 2.1
- Experience in testing mobile apps
- Customer service focussed and able to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to follow a process whilst also identifying efficiency and improvements.
- Sound organisational skills and pedantic attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Able to work from home
- A good understanding of HTML, CSS, client-side JavaScript, and other web-based technologies
