What the OzART statuses mean

There are five possible statuses for each item in an OzART report. They are:

Defect

A defect is something which needs to be fixed. When you first receive your reports, some items will already be marked as defects. These are things that can be automatically evaluated, like a missing ALT attribute on an IMG element.

Inspect

Most items will initially be set to “inspect”. This means that they may or may not be defects, but this can’t be determined automatically – they require human intelligence to make a judgement call, and then mark them either as “defect” or “okay”.

Okay

Many items that are set to “inspect” in the first instance are not in fact problematic. When you’re evaluating these items you’ll set them to “Okay”. This means no further action is required.

Fixed

When a defect has been corrected, its status should be changed to “Fixed”.

The distinction between this and “Okay” is that a Fixed item is one which was a defect and has been corrected, while an Okay item is one which simply wasn’t a defect in the first place.

Won’t Fix

Sometimes you’ll come across a defect that you simply can’t fix. An obvious example here would be the use of wrapper forms in SharePoint sites. It’s a defect, but you know you can’t do anything about it, so you mark it “Won’t Fix”.
